RPSC Photo Size 2026: 3.5x4.5cm, 50-100KB – Resize Free

Exact RPSC photo and signature size rules for 2026: pixel dimensions, KB limits, format, and background color, plus how to fix a rejected upload fast.

When you apply for an RPSC exam - whether it's RAS, School Lecturer, or any other Rajasthan Public Service Commission recruitment - the online application usually goes smoothly right up until the photo and signature upload step. Every recruitment cycle, thousands of aspirants get stuck here because their scanned image is a few KB too large, or the pixel dimensions don't match what the RPSC portal expects.

This guide lays out the exact numbers RPSC asks for, as per the latest official application guidelines, so you can upload once, correctly, and get back to the exam prep that actually matters.

Photo Size Requirements

RPSC requires your photograph in JPEG format only, sized at 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm - the standard passport-photo proportion. In pixel terms, the accepted range runs from a minimum of 240 x 320 pixels up to a maximum of 480 x 640 pixels, and the file itself must weigh between 50 KB and 100 KB. Anything outside that KB range is typically blocked by the portal's upload validator before you can even proceed.

The photo needs to be a recent, color photograph taken within the last six months, against a white or light-colored background. Your face should fill at least half the frame, with your eyes and full face clearly visible - no dark sunglasses, and if you wear glasses, make sure there's no flash glare across the lenses. RPSC's own instructions specifically warn against uploading a casual, self-composed mobile photo; it needs to look like a proper passport photograph, not a cropped selfie.

Signature Size Requirements

Your signature also has to be uploaded as a JPEG file, with pixel dimensions between a minimum of 280 x 80 pixels and a maximum of 560 x 160 pixels, and a file size between 20 KB and 50 KB.

Sign your name on plain white A4 paper inside a 7 cm x 2 cm box using a black or dark blue pen, then scan it or photograph it in even light before cropping tightly. RPSC's guidelines are explicit that a signature captured casually on a phone, without proper cropping and cleanup, is often flagged as unacceptable. Keep the background clean white, with no stray pen marks, shadows, or ruled lines showing through.

Common Mistakes That Get Applications Rejected

The most common reason RPSC applications stall at the upload step is a file that's a few KB over the 100 KB photo or 50 KB signature ceiling - phone camera photos are often 2-5 MB straight out of the gallery, far above what's accepted. A second frequent mistake is uploading a signature photographed at an angle, with shadows or a visibly textured paper background, which the portal often rejects even when the file size is technically within range. A third error is reusing an old passport photo that's more than six months old or has a colored or patterned background instead of white. Finally, some candidates accidentally upload a PNG file since their phone or scanner defaults to it, when RPSC's portal strictly accepts JPEG/JPG only.

How to Resize Your Photo and Signature in 30 Seconds

You don't need Photoshop or a designer to fix any of this. SignResizer.com lets you upload your existing photo and signature, target the RPSC pixel and KB ranges above, and download correctly sized JPEG files in under 30 seconds, completely free. If your RPSC application deadline is close, it's worth running both files through the tool once before you upload, so you don't lose time to a failed upload at the last minute.
